Our technology is applicable to all forms of first and last-mile transportation including autonomous delivery of goods at short distances. This will benefit communities, campuses, villages, and farms.
As an example, we can look at the retirement / life-care villages as one of the major beneficiaries. With the average age of New Zealand's (and the rest of the developed world) population increasing at a greater rate than ever before, the aged care industry has the potential to benefit from advanced technologies to assist in providing the best possible service. One area of interest and the focus of this project is mobility. With the elderly population having varying levels of mobility, ensuring that all levels of mobility are catered for within care facilities is a high priority for care providers. Due to the growth of retirement villages to reflect the ageing population, the distances to get between different facilities within the village are becoming greater. This provides a challenge for the care providers and the solution is often to have staff transport the residents around the village. This solution has the potential to be inefficient, unreliable, and expensive. RoboWaka can be used as autonomous shuttle to provide the residents with mobility around the village by offering an efficient, reliable, and safe method of transportation.
Yes, we are based in Auckland, New Zealand.
The shuttle is ready and being tested for safety and performance optimisation.
We will coninue to make the shuttle safer, smarter and reliable.
Since the technology surrounding autonomous driving is still in the early stages of development and deployment, our strong R&D capability will enable us to push the technology forward and collaborate/partner with other players in the market as well.
